To mark the launch of its new Masters Degree in Record Production, Thames Valley University is holding a series of free public lectures featuring leading industry figures.
Kicking off on
1 October, Robin Millar, whose productions for artists such as Sade, Everything But The Girl and The Style Council have sold more that 55 million copies worldwide, including 44 number one hits, will discuss the secrets of his success and how to carve out a career in today's rapidly changing industry. He will be followed on
22 October by Ted Fletcher who worked with innovative British producer Joe Meek in the early 1960s, developed the JoeMeek and TFPro ranges of audio processors in the 1990s and recentlyinvented the single source 'stereo' system, airSOUND. Fletcher will explain his approach to recorded sound and how it has shaped his groundbreaking work over five decades. On
12 November, Hank Shocklee, of The Bomb Squad and Public Enemy, will be spilling the secrets of rap production and discussing the new business models he’s developing for his new company, Shocklee Entertainment. The series will be rounded off by
Phil Harding, renowned producer and engineer, who will take us through his remarkable career from The Clash to Kylie and discuss the importance of the mix on the
10 December.
